I know, I haven't posted in a long time. So, here's a a brief overview. I finished my freshman year, got my wisdom teeth out, became a nanny, went to Palmyra with the YSA in my stake, started my sophomore year, took a road trip to LA for Thanksgiving with two of my roomies and another girl from our ward, interviewed to be an efy counselor, etc.
But now, I have something really exciting going on! My post title alludes to it. I'm in SFL 222 this semester (I know that means nothing to you) and it is a practicum course. Basically, I'm a teacher's aide in the BYU Preschool and I absolutely love it. It definitely wears me out, since I have to be in the preschool by 7:45 three days a week (one of them is a prep day). College students don't like anything before 10. I love being with the kids though, and they are absolutely adorable. There is quite a big range of personalities in my class, and I'm slowly finding out that we have pretty all the challenged/disabled children in this class. One boy has Down Syndrome, and he has an aide with him constantly, which means we have an extra adult, woo! I found out today that another boy is autistic, and another boy is ADHD. Two other boys are super shy, and another boy has anger issues. One girl often feels neglected because her mom is confined to bed rest, since she has problems during pregnancy. Besides that, we have many loud personalities (think Emma: strong-willed, constantly talking, has an opinion on anything). However, I already adore them all and love spending time with them. Unfortunately, it's only a block class, which means I'll be done in February. I'll like having more time to sleep, but I'll really miss the kids.
Added bonus: All the aides and the student teacher in my class get along well, and Dorie (the head teacher) told us today that we are the best group she's had for a few years. (WAHOO!) She really appreciates that we're all friends, and we get started prepping and cleaning without nudging.
On the days I'm not in the preschool, I babysit a 2 and a half year old boy named Kason. I got the job on craigslist (weird, huh?), and I really like it. Jami, Kason's mom, is about 24 and already a widow. How sad! Her husband passed away in August from lupus. Today was the first day I heard Kason cry and call for his daddy. I thought my heart was going to break into a million pieces. He's a super cute kid, and speaks really well. I enjoy playing with him, and I really like that I babysit in the afternoons now during his nap time. That allows me to get a little homework done, or take a 10 minute nap myself, since I'm pretty much going 24/7 this semester. One of the great things about Kason is that he knows what the temple is, and he tells me that he loves the temple. How cute!
Anyway, maybe I'll actually post now and then during the rest of the semester.

Yeah, Andrea! I'm really glad you are enjoying your preschool experience, sounds like you are doing great!
It's about time!!!! Sorry I never texted back, I was driving. Do you still want help with your assignment? Welcome to teaching! The more you understand and get to know the children, the more differences, problems, etc. you find. That's what makes it so great though! They're all different and all need different things! Only 1 ADHD is pretty good, but I guess more of them could/will be diagnosed as time goes on.
